small iconAny community member with a library card can access the new online services from the library or right from home.  The K-12 Student Center from Tutor.com includes live, one-to-one tutoring and 24/7 access to worksheets, videos and tutorials in just about any subject.   

small iconThe live, online tutoring is available every day from 3PM-1AM.  Need help beyond these times?  No problem.  The center includes 24/7 access to thousands of resources including study guides, worksheets, videos and more in  math, science, social studies, English, and more.

k12 iconTutor.com has a network of over 2,000 certified tutors as well as career specialists who are ready to help with just about any question you may have. 

Students can get help with homework, test preparation, skills and concepts they are learning in class and standardized test preparation and college entrance exams.  Subjects include math, science, social studies and English. 

Access Tips: Patrons can connect to the Tutor.com Learning Suite from any Internet-enabled PC or MAC. the Tutor.com Learning Suite is available via the Internet via Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, etc. with the use of Microsoft Silverlight. Silverlight is a free, cross-platform browser plugin available directly from the Tutor.com co-brand page, if it has not already been downloaded on the student’s computer. Patrons using Tutor.com in the library must use a Windows computer. Patrons accessing at home will need to type in their library barcode number.

Coin Career Library  Access from the library or from home

Career Library™ offers a comprehensive information resource for career and college research. Five user-friendly components help users match their interests to occupations, education prospects, and more. Created for individual researchers and career/education technology professionals, Career Library is a valuable addition to libraries and career centers.

Please note that you will need a SITEID and LOGIN to use this tool, whether using it from within the library or at home. Please call a librarian at 732-727-0212 ex. 12 or email alainad@lmxac.org to acquire the login information.

Historical Newspapers Logo

Proquest Historical Newspapers This tool offers online access to historical newspapers that you can click through cover to cover, or search by topic, date, or article type (article, photo, comic, birth/death/marriage notice, display ad, film review, etc.). They present firsthand accounts and opinions that bring history to life. Offers full-text and full-image articles for newspapers dating back to the 18th century. Every issue of each title includes the complete paper–cover-to-cover–with full-page and article images in downloadable PDF. 

This ongoing project already includes The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post Christian Science Monitor, The Los Angeles Times, The Chicago Tribune, The Atlanta Constitution, The Boston Globe, and The Hartford Courant.

The Sayreville Library will now be offering pre-loaded digital audiobooks called Playaways to patrons. An all-in-one product, Playaway is a lightweight, compact, easy-to-use player that comes with one audiobook already downloaded.

Playaways are:

  • Simple
    A Playaway is easy to use. Patrons just need to plug their earphones/earbuds into the universal jack, ensure there is a AAA battery inside the device, and press the Playaway button.
  • Pre-loaded
    Every Playaway comes already loaded with a title.
  • Digital Technology
    Like books on CD and cassette, the Playaway digital audiobook delivers sound that is crisp and flawless. Plus, using a simple keypad, listeners have the ability to adjust voice speed. Bookmarking is automatic.

Getting Started: Click the above link. You will be brought to the Research portion of this site. Byki is the first tool listed. Click on Access Now. You will be prompted to type in your library barcode number. Once you do this, you will need to create an account with Byki so that it may track your progress over time and customize your language learning experience. You may choose any login ID and password that you would like. You are then ready to go!

Browse hundreds of downloadable audiobooks! Check out and download best-selling and classic titles to your PC or Mac, then transfer to a portable device such as an iPod or other MP3 player, or burn many titles to CD to enjoy anytime, anywhere.

Getting Started
Visit www.listennj.com. First, you will need to go through a brief, one-time setup of an account by clicking on AUDIOBOOK ACCOUNT in the center, top portion of the page. From the pull-down menu under LIBRARY, select Libraries of Middlesex Automation Consortium. Then, type in your library barcode that begins with "29359" in the field labeled LIBRARY CARD NUMBER. Lastly, you have to type in your PIN number that you were assigned when you registered for your library card. If you do not know your PIN number, call 732-727-0212 ex. 3. Please note that the previous steps followed are also the same steps you will follow to sign in each time to access ListenNJ.

Once you are logged in, you will be brought to your welcome screen. Using ListenNJ is much like shopping online where you add items to your cart, check out, and begin using the items you have checked out.

Before browsing for titles, you should download the OVERDRIVE MEDIA CONSOLE located in the right-hand menu under SOFTWARE DOWNLOADS. This is a one-time download that will enable ListenNJ and your computer/mobile device to work together. Choose the version of the player that will work with your device, click on download now, save the file, and double-click on the file to open it. Follow the brief series of steps to finalize the download. Once you have completed these steps, you can begin browsing for titles!

Tips & Policies
Please note that you are permitted to borrow 5 titles at a time. You will be given a due date choice of 7 days or 10 days. On the due date you have chosen, the items checked out to you will automatically be removed from your account. This means...no late fees! Please understand that once you have checked out a title, you will not be able to "return" it when you choose to. The due date you chose initially is the date the item will be "returned" back to the system automatically.

Occasionally, when a title is very popular, you may have to join a wait list by entering your email address. Once a copy becomes free, you will be notified by ListenNJ so that you may login and download the audiobook.

Audiobooks downloaded can play on multiple media devices. Each audiobook title indicates to you which devices can play that particular title. Devices that are grayed out cannot play the particular audiobook you have selected, while devices that are highlighted can.

As you gather with your loved ones for the season, why not discuss your family trees and your family history? Heritagequest Online is where your online quest for genealogoical information starts!

To begin, click here to enter JERSEYCLICKS, the portal you will need to go through to get to Heritagequest Online.  If you are using this from home, you will need to type in your library barcode that begins with “29359.” Choose CUSTOM SEARCH. Scroll down and on the left side of the page you will see PROQUEST HERITAGEQUEST under the subject heading Genealogy. Heritagequest will open in a new screen.  Begin exploring!

If you are visiting LearningExpress Library for the first time, click the "Register" button in the "New Users" box on the main page. On the New User Registration page, enter your library card barcode as your username and a password of your choice. Click  the “Register” button. Choose your area of interest from the “Learning Center” area to the left of the screen and get ready to start practicing!

GreenFILE is a freely accessible research database focusing on the relationship between human beings and the environment. Comprised of more than 600 scholarly and general interest titles, as well as government documents and reports, GreenFILE offers a unique perspective on the positive and negative ways humans affect the ecology. The total number of records is approximately 295,000, and full text is provided for more than 4,600 records from open access titles. Also included in GreenFILE is a 6,800-term Thesaurus.
