Downloadable Audiobooks

Download audiobooks FREE from us using www.listennj.com. It is easy to use, available 24/7, and you will never incur a late fee!

1. Visit www.listennj.com. You will need to go through a brief, one-time setup of an account by clicking on DIGITAL MEDIA ACCOUNT in the center, top portion of the page. From the pull-down menu under LIBRARY, select Libraries of Middlesex Automation Consortium.

2. Type in your library barcode that begins with "29359" in the field labeled LIBRARY CARD NUMBER. Then, enter in your PIN number that you were assigned when you registered for your library card. If you do not know your PIN number, call 732-727-0212 ex. 3. Please note that the previous steps followed are also the same steps you will follow to sign in each time to access ListenNJ.

3. Before browsing for audiobook titles, download OVERDRIVE MEDIA CONSOLE software located in the right-hand menu under SOFTWARE DOWNLOADS. This is where you will access and transfer your downloaded audio titles. These are all one-time downloads and steps. Once you are done, you can begin browsing for titles!

4. Using ListenNJ is much like shopping online where you add items to your cart and then check out. Once you check out, download each title. Direct your computer to open audio titles with the Overdrive Media Console.

5. You can now enjoy your title on your computer or transfer your downloads to a compatible device. For audio titles, use Overdrive Media Console. Please note that not all audio titles can be transferred. Titles that are eligible for transfer are initially highlighted before you check out the titles. Click the Transfer button in the console to launch the Transfer Wizard and follow the onscreen prompts. You will also need iTunes v9.1 or newer to transfer to Apple devices. After transfer is complete, you may disconnect the device and enjoy your titles on the go!

Tips

You may have up to 5 titles checked out.

You may choose a loan period of 7 days or 10 days for audiobook titles, after which the title will automatically be removed from your account and device. Once you have checked out a title, you will not be able to "return" it.

Popular titles may occasionally require a waitlist. Add yourself to the waitlist and you will receive an email when the title is available.

Smartphone users can download the Overdrive app to access the ListenNJ service. When searching for libraries, search for Sayreville or InfoLink, and this will lead you to the ListenNJ site. You can then use the steps listed above to begin!

Popular Compatible Devices

Titles downloaded can play on multiple media devices. Each title indicates which devices can play that particular title before you choose to check it out. Devices that are grayed out cannot play the particular device, while devices that are highlighted can.

Some of the popular devices that are compatible with ListenNJ are: most Mp3 players, iPad Touch, iPad, iPhone, Android devices, Blackberry devices, Windows mobile devices, & Windows and Mac computers. Click here for a list of compatible devices.

This is one-time download that will enable ListenNJ to communicate with your device. Follow the brief series of steps to finalize the download. After the download is complete, you will be prompted to setup an Adobe ID. An Adobe ID is needed to transfer protected eBooks between multiple computers and mobile devices. Kindle users need to have an account with Amazon.com already and either a Kindle device or a Kindle reading app. These are all one-time downloads and steps. You can now begin browsing for titles! Direct your computer to open ebook titles with Adobe Digital Editions. Kindle users should click on the GET FOR KINDLE button. Amazon.com will open. Sign in, select a Kindle device or Kindle reading app, and click the GET LIBRARY BOOK button. Sync your device or app to download the book. Kindles without wireless need to transfer with USB. See Amazon’s instructions for transferring.

5. You can now enjoy your title on your computer or transfer your downloads to a compatible device. For ebook titles being transferred to a device other than the Kindle, use Adobe Digital Editions. Connect your device to your computer. Drag and drop the title from Adobe Digital Editions onto the device name on the left panel. After transfers are complete, you may disconnect the device and enjoy your titles on the go!
